However, others sadly fell short of their previous high expectations, like Dolly Parton-championed country music trio Chapel Hart. Their original song \u201cAmerican Pride\u201d<\/em> highlighted unexpected vocal weaknesses, which likely hurt their chances in the competition.<\/p>\n

However, it seems that all of those contestants may be overshadowed by an augmented-reality gimmick act, MetaPhysic. Two weeks ago, Simon Cowell boldly declared MetaPhysic the greatest act in AGT<\/em> history. Of course, Simon might be a bit biased, considering MetaPhysic has always incorporated him\u2014well, a creepy cyborg version of him\u2014into their act, reimagining him as a world-class opera tenor. Later, a deepfake Howie and Terry Crews joined in for a performance of \u201cNessun Dorma\u201d<\/em> in the quarterfinals, powered by artificial intelligence. This week, MetaPhysic further won over the judges by adding Uncanny Valley fembot versions of Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara as backup singers alongside the fake Simon.<\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t Sofia and Heidi that gave MetaPhysic the edge this week. What could actually secure them the Season 17 championship was another special \u201cguest performer.\u201d For their final number, MetaPhysic delivered on their promise to digitally resurrect \u201cthe greatest rock act ever,\u201d bringing Elvis Presley back to life onstage. Viva Las Vegas, indeed.<\/p>\n

AGT<\/em> viewers have been divided over MetaPhysic in the past, questioning whether it\u2019s truly fair for them to compete against live acts with \u201creal talent.\u201d However, the judges were \u201cblown away\u201d and \u201call shook up\u201d by MetaPhysic\u2019s Elvis routine on Tuesday. Heidi called MetaPhysic \u201cbeyond good,\u201d Sofia described them as \u201camazing,\u201d and Simon remarked, \u201cLet\u2019s remember what this night is all about: It\u2019s about winning, it\u2019s about the money, and more importantly, it\u2019s about being in Vegas. This, in my opinion, is probably the most incredible, original act we\u2019ve ever had. You\u2019re so creative. You\u2019re going to have your own show in Vegas, no question about it, at the Luxor Hotel. Get ready.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Many viewers seemed to share Simon’s sentiment, with one fan, John Clark, tweeting, \u201cMetaPhysic should win #AGT. Think of the money in Vegas bringing back old acts to feature in concert. Unbelievable act.\u201d Given the current success of London\u2019s augmented reality show ABBA Voyage<\/em>, Simon and John might be onto something. This could be the future of live entertainment \u2014 or at least the future of America\u2019s Got Talent<\/em>, if MetaPhysic is crowned the million-dollar champion on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
